Résumé

Objectif : Déterminer la relation entre le besoin et la recherche d'aide efficace. Méthode : Recherche quantitative appuyée par une analyse multivariée. Résultats : Les étudiants ne comprennent pas clairement les services qui leur sont offerts dans l'unité de bien-être de leur établissement ; ils préfèrent demander de l'aide à leur entourage proche et ont tendance à essayer de résoudre eux-mêmes les difficultés qu'ils rencontrent. Discussion : Les résultats concordent fortement avec ceux d'autres recherches examinées. Il ne faut pas présumer que ceux qui ont besoin d'aide la recherchent. Conclusions : Les étudiants qui ont besoin d'aide ne la recherchent pas nécessairement ; ils ne l'acceptent même pas facilement si elle leur est offerte. Il est nécessaire de comprendre les raisons de ce paradoxe dans chaque contexte afin de concevoir des stratégies pour contrer ce phénomène.
