Unique Identifier (DOI)
The DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is a unique identifier assigned to digital objects, such as journal articles, theses, images, or any other academic or scientific content published online. Its purpose is to provide a persistent and stable link to access the content, even if the file location or website changes over time.
In high-impact journals, the DOI is crucial to ensure that the article or study can be reliably located and cited, even if the journal's URL changes or is updated; that is, the DOI helps ensure stability, accurate citation, and accessibility of academic and scientific content, which is especially relevant in facilitating visibility and access.
In several high-impact academic and scientific journals, the DOI is included in each published article for correct citation and access. The GESTIONES Journal (since 2023) includes the DOI at the top of the first page of all its articles as a subtitle; additionally, each article is registered and preserved in Zenodo, and the DOIs are also consolidated in the Statistics menu.
